"The Stranger" is a new adaptation of one of the greatest French novels of the 20th century by Albert Camus, published in 1942. François Ozon tells the story of Meursault, a modest, unassuming clerk whose daily routine is uninterrupted even by the death of his mother. Until a tragic event occurs one hot day on the beach. Ozon's adaptation, which premiered in the Main Competition at the Venice Film Festival, is an incredibly timely story about the search for meaning in a world where all meaning has been lost. Spare dialogue and beautiful black-and-white cinematography, a tribute to classic cinema, create the film's unique atmosphere. The main roles are played by Benjamin Voisin ("Lost Illusions," "Summer '85") and Rebecca Marder ("My Crime").
